5 of the Many Reasons You Need to Visit Stonehurst Place

Have you ever enjoyed a trip so much that you couldn’t wait to tell all of your friends and family about it? My recent visit to Stonehurst Place inspired me to do precisely that! It’s always a pleasure writing about this award-winning boutique inn and their incredible location in Midtown Atlanta. Needless to say, I was thrilled to have an opportunity to experience it for myself. It was everything I expected and much more! Here’s why a visit to Stonehurst Place should be at the top of your list for your next getaway.

Stonehurst Place: A Treasure of Midtown Atlanta

This beautiful mansion in Midtown Atlanta has historical roots dating back to 1896, and Barb Shadomy has meticulously preserved most of the original details while infusing modern luxuries. As the owner and designer of the inn, she left no stone unturned, and it shows. Stonehurst Place was ranked as one of the South’s Best Inns of 2018 by Southern Living readers for a reason!

1. You Immediately Feel Welcome

Eagerness and excitement filled my body from head to toe as I hopped in the car and began my journey to a destination that would soon become one of my all-time favorites. It was worth every minute of the car ride from Charleston, SC!

As soon as I parked my car and headed to the door, I received a warm welcome from John and Grace, the managers at Stonehurst Place and two of the friendliest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They offered me a tour of the property, regaled me with tales of the inn’s history, and provided tips for planning my days in the city. I truly felt at home!

2. “Elegant” Is an Understatement

As I walked throughout the inn, I found myself admiring the impressive collection of artwork along the walls. Many of the pieces are original Andy Warhols! After a day in Midtown Atlanta, I always looked forward to resting my feet and enjoying a glass of wine in the Music Room by the fireplace and grand piano.

At night, when I settled into my bed in The Piedmont Room, it felt like I was melting into a cloud of relaxation. Their Comphy brand linens offered layers upon layers of luxury for some of the most restful nights of sleep I’ve ever had!

3. Every Morning Is Special

As cozy as their beds are, I couldn’t wait to get up and greet the day with Grace’s rave-worthy breakfasts. She always crafts an exceptional lineup of gourmet dishes to wake up your taste buds and get you ready for your Midtown Atlanta adventures.

Some of the foods I enjoyed included peppered balsamic berries on a bed of fluffy cream, egg tarts in a light Chardonnay sauce, and “Lost Challah” filled with mascarpone (or almond cream cheese) and a zest of lemon. I’m lactose-intolerant, and it was wonderful to see how Grace put extra care into making each dish dairy free. I wish I could wake up to her breakfasts every single morning!

4. Location, Location, Location

I parked my car in the driveway upon arrival, and it stayed there for the entirety of my stay. There’s no need to drive when there are so many incredible attractions nearby! My brother and I walked everywhere, including Ponce City Market, the High Museum of Art, and the World of Coca-Cola Museum. Of course, we saved plenty of time to explore the acres upon acres of beauty at Piedmont Park, too!

Tip: Make sure you grab a meal at The Lawrence or Campagnolo when you visit! They’re both a short walk away from the inn and easily rank among my favorite restaurants in Atlanta.

5. You’ll Want to Return Again and Again
